The 19th Century History of Oakland County
December 7 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
The first history of Oakland County was produced in 1877. It was part of a nationwide phenomenon that led to the writing of hundreds of county histories over a 10-year period following the 1876 centennial of America’s birth. Largely a collection of oral histories assembled by the publisher, L. H. Everts and Company of Philadelphia, the History of Oakland County, Michigan provides a very personal, township by township description of life in Oakland County during the lives of the first and second generation of pioneer settlers. James Craft will present this program.
